What is your personal entrepreneurial philosophy, particularly as it relates to effective business development?

In the earliest stages of business development, there are quite a few factors that entrepreneurs must be wary of if they wish to create a viable business over the long term. These factors are rarely the same from one business to another, and there are always rapidly changing market considerations that must also be taken into account. Generally speaking, however, a successful business development plan ought to at least involve a clear strategy for demonstrating that the core product or service offered by the company will, in some way, improve the lives of those consuming that particular product or service.

Do you believe this development philosophy is applicable in beverage entrepreneurship?

Yes, absolutely. Consumers understand that few products or services will radically or permanently change their lives for the better; instead, they are looking something that offers at least a marginal improvement, or an improvement that will accumulate over time. Beverage entrepreneurs — whether they are promoting healthy beverages, energy drinks, or even just uniquely enjoyable drinks — offer consumers a tangible improvement, including both immediate and cumulative improvements.

Do you think your philanthropic work has influenced the way you approach your entrepreneurial endeavors? If so, how?

It certainly has, and it is part of the reason I believe the previously outlined development philosophy is so effective. It is the role of philanthropy and entrepreneurship to develop new and innovative ideas that serve people and provide access to some kind of vehicle for improvement.

Philanthropy has also reinforced my belief that supportive, long-term partnerships ultimately prove to be much more than just mutually beneficial for the parties directly involved in the partnership; these kinds of partnerships are universally beneficial and often benefit society as a whole.

Is there a particular piece of advice you regularly share with fledgling entrepreneurs?

Even though I have more than over a decade of experience as an entrepreneur, I have always remained committed to ongoing education. I believe the continuing pursuit of education — formal or informal — is an incredibly rewarding endeavor that offers substantial benefits for fledgling and veteran entrepreneurs alike.
